Some pictures from Stephen!

Me enjoying an MRE (Meal Ready to Eat). It was a Cheese and Vegetable Omelet. Basically, an MRE is a high calorie meal in a bag. It is made to provide somewhere around 3,000 to 4,000 calories in one meal. That is because, in the field, you may only get one meal a day. The main entrée comes in a cardboard box. Inside the bag is a plastic bag that contains some special rocks that heat up when water touches them. So, you either pour or spit water from your canteen into the bag. Then, slide the entrée into the bag, put the bag in the cardboard box, and let it sit for 10 minutes. While that is heating, you can eat your crackers, pastry, granola, drink mix, or whatever else you get in your ration. After you let the entrée heat, you tear open the bag and eat it with your spoon. Luckily, they do give you hot sauce in every MRE. Probably thinking, if you can’t taste it, you won’t know that it’s bad. My first MRE was gross. Maple Sausage. But the Cheese and Vegetable Omelet was ok. Some people got beef enchilada, which looked and smelled pretty good.

Standing at “parade rest” with the rest of my flight and some of the other flights, waiting to march to our tactical training. There were a few “jodies” on the way which made the march go faster… Hopefully I’ll learn some more so I can tell them when I get back.
